HANS DIRKEN Music School
A school providing musical education for children, youngsters and adults, aiming at group oriented learning processes.
The HANS DIRKEN foundation was established in 1953 to develop methodologies for musical group oriented education for every child and youngster.
Still too often, music theory is used as an initial activator to start to play. Learning to play music by providing experience based, active and creative musical education in small groups is the best and most direct way to stimulate musical activity. Theory is only used when the continuous learning process is hampered by the lack of essential musical theory knowledge.
Using musical instruments from the start makes this education so stimulating: body percussion, Orff-instruments, the flute or recorder and then, as soon as possible, violin, guitar, piano, cello, clarinet amongst other instruments.
The initial program runs for 4 consecutive years. Then, our young musicians proceed to ensemble groups where they can continuously learn and develop their musical skills. During summer, we organize special music camps, so they can learn intensively during a one-week course: Early Music, Orchestra, Jazz or Pop.
